Haynes and Boone Alum Michael Williams to Seek U.S. Senate Seat

One of the three officials who oversees natural gas production in the Barnett Shale and energy development across the state announced on his Web site his candidacy for the U.S. Senate to replace Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, who is expected to run for governor in 2010.

Commissioner Michael Williams, chairman of the Railroad Commission of Texas, has worked with the organization since 1999, and previously worked as of Counsel at Dallas-based Haynes and Boone LLP and assistant district attorney in his hometown of Midland. Despite its name, the Railroad Commission of Texas no longer has anything to do with locomotive transportation.

Reconnecting with Colleagues

Haynes and Boone has always valued success – for our clients, today’s members of our firm, and those people who contributed to our success in the past. We are proud of each of our alumni who have found career and personal satisfaction through new challenges.

We like to think that the spirit of Haynes and Boone remains a part of everyone who’s ever worked here. If that includes you, certainly we’re stronger today for all the contributions that you made. And no doubt there are former colleagues with whom you shared tough assignments, celebrations, and who you’d like to compare notes with now.

That’s one big purpose behind this alumni section of our firm web site. Catching up with former colleagues can be nostalgic, enjoyable and rewarding in a career development sense. We are proud about the great things going on with your former firm.  We'd love to talk more about that with you , and know how you’re doing. Please email us at and we’ll make it the start of a great networking opportunity for all of us.

National Law School Alums

There’s another sense in which alumni are important in our firm. In recent years Haynes and Boone has aggressively recruited outstanding students from the best law schools in the country. While in our early years we interviewed only at law schools in Texas, today more than 40% of our lawyers are graduates of law schools located outside the state.   The Careers Section of our web site features some of the great lawyers who graduated from these universities.  Whether you attend one of those schools today, are interested in finding an alum who can handle your legal needs, or are at another law firm and considering a personal referral connection, these links can be your portal to a personal Haynes and Boone connection.

Thanks for checking in. We look forward to hearing from you.
