Public Sector Disputes
Haynes and Boone’s public law attorneys have extensive experience representing public and private entities in public sector disputes.
We have successfully represented our clients at all levels, from proceedings before administrative bodies through trial and appeal in state and federal courts. These representations involve matters ranging from Public Information Act and Ethics Commission disputes to election contests to civil rights litigation. For example, we successfully defended the removal of a potential opponent’s name from the ballot in state district court, the Houston Court of Appeals, the Texas Supreme Court, and federal district court.
Our team’s experience with civil rights litigation is also wide-ranging and includes the defense of numerous governmental entities at all levels of state and federal courts. Building on the experience of former Harris County Attorney Mike Stafford and former Harris County Litigation Bureau Chief Casey Wallace, our team has represented prosecutors, law enforcement officials, counties, municipalities and non-profits in matters involving the First and Fourteenth Amendments as well as wrongful death actions stemming from law enforcement officers’ use of force.
